This week has been good!
And to think, it's the first in a month that we didn't go on a day trip!
This past week a few of us decided to do the unthinkable, a week without alcohol. Maybe not a full week, but five days! Monday through Friday. We had to substitute somehow. So we turned to baking! I only partook in a two of the nights, we still had fun baking!
Who knew that baking could be a wonderful alternative! Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and Dutch chocolate sprinkles one night and crepes (or pancakes?) with cheese and chocolate sprinkles another night. Ooh baking!

This week has been fairly normal with classes! No psychology on Monday, which was really nice! I had ISCAN on Wednesday, not bad but it went over by a half hour! Classes are already an hour and 45 minutes long, an extra 30 minutes is not necessary! I really shouldn't complain, I mean I only have four classes this semester and they only go for 8 weeks.
Thursday was equally as good. My first class was not bad. We listened to another presentation and then listed to another article by the professor. It was equally as good. Surprisingly we talked about Rodney King, something our Diversity class researched for our final video my Junior year.
My second class was a little bit more interesting. It was cancelled. I checked my school email and Moodle to see when it had been cancelled and learned it was not on there. I waited to see if others would show up, after a few minutes another ICS student showed up. I guess the international students are they only ones they feel unnecessary to tell when class is cancelled. I found it weird, but nothing I can do about it now!
This week also marked the last week to find out a project and register. Unfortunately for me, I have to do the project by myself. Not to excited about that but nothing else I can do about it. I guess just a few days locked in the library will help me through it.
Skype. What a glorious invention.
This week I got to Skype with some awesome people.
On Friday, I got to Skype with my friend Katie! It was so nice to be able to finally talk to her! Even if Skype was being weird and not letting us use video, it was still good to talk!
Saturday afternoon I had a great conversation with my Mom. I wasn't feeling the greatest Friday or most of Saturday and being able to talk to Mom definitely helped. I also got to vent and just talk through some stuff. Not the most positive conversation we have had while I've been gone but it was much needed.
After making crepes with Erica, Ali, and Micha I went back to my room to see an email from Mom saying she was babysitting JJ for the night and wanted to Skype. I called and got to see this adorable face.
For about 45 minutes I got to watch this goober sit by himself, roll over, 'talk', smile, play, and watch him try to hug me via Skype. It was one of the greatest things I have ever experienced! I should also mention that halfway through the call my Grandma called our house phone. My mom quickly called her on the cell phone, put it on speaker, and I was able to talk to her as well! For the first time since I have been gone, I was able to see JJ and talk to my Grandma. It made my week!
I love technology!
As I mentioned earlier, I wasn't feeling well on Friday night and ended up staying in, on Saturday night we again ended up staying in, due to the snow! I will be the first to admit that I usually don't like snow, but being able to watch it peacefully fall was wonderful! So instead of going to the Gangster/30s theme party at the Kollegium down the street we decided to stay in and have a 'girls night'! Ali, Erica, Tara, Micha, and I hung out in the common area, drank and talked. It was really fun. I tried some real Danish beer, it's not for me. I'll stick to my American kinds! That was the night we made the crepes as well.
Yesterday, Erica, Tara, and I headed into town to do some final things for our trip this next week! We got our train tickets for Copenhagen on Saturday so we can get to the airport to head to Paris! (Ahh, so excited!!)
We got the phone situation some what figured out. Since Tara is the only one with a CPR number right now, she had to apply for the phones. Through her we were only able to get two numbers between the three of us. Erica and Tara got the numbers. It's good that we will have numbers but I would feel a little bit more comfortable if all three of us had them. Oh well, there's nothing else I can do. We just have to make sure the buddy system works well!
Well, the next two weeks will be adventured filled! We have the AIK's 20 Anniversary party on Friday. On Saturday we leave for Paris! That is if the 'giant snow storm' doesn't comes! Were talking 10-15 centimeter! For my American friends 4-6 inches! Which I've heard is nothing compared to the amount you got over the weekend!
Please pray for safe travels for Erica, Tara, and I as we head to Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome! I'm excited to see some of God's beautiful creations (perhaps more man-made, but you get the picture, right?)
Look for my next blog in about two weeks!
Au revoir!
Disclaimer: I am not an alcoholic! We just decided to substitute our time with baking instead!
